One of the reasons I started this website is that even though I am not a skinny minnie size 8, I want to live a healthy lifestyle and want to be able to find exercises, athletic gear and tips that will help me (and you) be as fit as I can. Yesterday I went in for my annual (well, it has been a few years) physical. One of the first things my doctor wanted to discuss with me was my blood pressure. It was a bit too high for her liking. Even though I am not obese (I can stand to lose more weight though), have no family history of hypertension and have a healthy heart, I still have high blood pressure – and have had for the past 14 years – thanks to a chemistry change in my body during my first pregnancy.

As luck would have it, I got an email yesterday from the PR firm for Novartis letting me know about a new website called 1in3people.com that addresses hypertension risk factors, managing your high blood pressure and resources for people who have a family member with high blood pressure. I highly recommend you check it out.

As for me, I am going to keep working out 3-4 times a week, increasing the color in my diet (white food is generally not the best option!), and working towards another 10-15 lb weight loss. I’ll try to post my progress, tips, and such here as I go. Join me! Together we will be healthy and active – no matter what size our bodies are.
