I don’t usually watch TV in the morning, but I happened to have it on in the background this morning. I heard Kathy Lee and Hoda on The Today Show introduce a segment on this Spring’s hottest shoe trend – sneakers – and instantly cheered, then walked into the other room so I could watch. Basically, sneakers are in – can be worn with skirts, jeans, dresses – the works! This makes me so happy because since I had my foot surgery, my favorite pointy toe ballet flats and flip flops just don’t give me the support that my foot really needs!
Even though I work from home, I like to actually put outfits together and finding the right shoe now that it is Spring was proving to be a challenge. After watching the segment on The Today Show, I spent the next hour pouring over Zappos, DSW and the Adidas site looking for sneaker styles that I would like to possibly add to my wardrobe.
Here are a few of my favorites – so far. From top to bottom:
1. Adidas Runeo Zetroc TD shoes in white/bloom $55.00 at Adidas.com
2. Reebok SkyScape Runaround Shoe in pink fusion/chalk $64.98 at Reebok.com
3. UGG Hally Perf in Princess Pink Suede $100 at Zappos
4. ASICS Gel-Harmony™ TR2 in Penguin/Limeade/Candy Pink $64 at Zappos
5. Dr. Scholl’s Jennie in Red Chambray Fabric $65 at Zappos
The primary criteria for these sneakers is that they need to have laces so I can adjust the support depending on how my foot feels on any given day AND I picked out styles that I think would look good with shorts, capris or my favorite jeans cuffed to mid calf.
So, why are all of my choices pink? Well, I didn’t want white – reminds me of the 80’s and white Reebok high tops and scrunch socks. No black – too dark. So, pink it is – it’s a spring color, goes with just about anything, has a bit of sass and I really like all the options.
What do you think of the sneaker trend? What are you go-to casual shoes for spring?
